Rodri Set for Barcelona Move in €76.5m Blockbuster Deal

Barcelona are closing in on the signing of Manchester City midfielder Rodri in a deal worth around €76.5 million.

The Spanish star arrived in Barcelona on Monday evening to complete the final steps of the transfer. Clearly excited about the move, Rodri said: “It is a dream to be here.”

The transfer ends weeks of speculation over the Spain captain’s future. Rodri has been one of Manchester City’s most important players in recent seasons, helping the club win major trophies with his calm passing, strong defending and ability to control the midfield.

Barcelona have admired Rodri for a long time and believe he can bring experience, balance and leadership to their midfield. His impressive performances at the 2026 World Cup, where he won the Golden Ball, only increased the club’s desire to sign him.

For Manchester City, the deal provides a huge financial return on a player who has played a major role in the club’s recent success. For Barcelona, signing a player of Rodri’s quality is a major statement as they look to challenge for the biggest trophies again.

Rodri is expected to sign his Barcelona contract shortly, with his medical the final major step before the transfer is officially completed.

Barcelona fans will now be eager to see their new midfield star in action at Camp Nou.
