Pakistan on course to level series after West Indies collapse in Trinidad


Pakistan moved within touching distance of a rare away Test victory after putting West Indies under huge pressure on day three of the second Test at Queen's Park Oval in Port of Spain.

Although West Indies won the opening Test by 90 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match series, they now face an uphill battle to avoid Pakistan drawing level.


The hosts made 344 in their first innings, thanks mainly to Justin Greaves' well-made 73 and captain Roston Chase's 70. Pakistan spinner Sajid Khan was the standout bowler, finishing with impressive figures of 4 for 85.

Pakistan replied with 387 to take a valuable first-innings lead of 43 runs. Opener Abdullah Shafique produced a superb unbeaten 160, while Babar Azam chipped in with a fluent 88 before being run out.


West Indies then suffered a dramatic collapse in their second innings. By stumps on day three, they had slumped to 103 for 6, holding a lead of just 60 runs with only four wickets left.

Sajid Khan continued to trouble the home batters, while fellow spinner Ali Usman struck at crucial moments to leave Pakistan firmly in control.

If Pakistan can finish off the West Indies innings quickly on day four and successfully chase the target, they will record their first away Test victory since 2023 and square the series at 1-1. The visitors have all the momentum, while West Indies need something special to turn the match around.
