History Made: Alex Eala Becomes First Filipino to Win a WTA Singles Title

Alex Eala has written her name into the history books by becoming the first player from the Philippines to win a WTA Tour singles title.


The 21-year-old left-hander produced the biggest victory of her career by defeating top seed Jessica Pegula in the final of the Washington Open. The championship match was interrupted by bad weather, but Eala stayed composed after the delay and battled her way to a memorable win.
