France Cruise Past Battling Morocco to Reach World Cup Semi-Finals

It was a fairly straightforward night for France in the end. They came up against a plucky Morocco side in the quarter-finals on 9 July and eased to a comfortable 2-0 win to book their spot in the last four.

The French started well and took the lead early doors through some slick attacking play. Kylian Mbappé was at the heart of it once again, grabbing a goal and an assist and showing exactly why he's one of the best players on the planet right now. Ousmane Dembélé doubled the lead not long after, and from there the game was pretty much done and dusted.

Morocco had a decent go at it, particularly in the spells where they pressed high up the pitch and carved out a few half-chances, but they just couldn't find a way past a solid French defence. France looked comfortably in control for most of the match, even if there were the odd hairy moment.

Mbappé picked up a knock late on and had to come off, but it didn't put a dampener on the night. Les Bleus were simply too strong on the day, clinical when it counted and boasting quality throughout the squad.

A convincing win for the defending champions, who'll now sit back and see who comes through the rest of the ties - though on this evidence, they look every bit as dangerous as last time out. Morocco can be proud of another strong tournament run, but France were just a cut above on the night. Classic quarter-final stuff.
