Today's 24th match ipl36 match review between MI and PBKS Mumbai Indians and predicted winer.

Punjab Kings are set to clash in Match 24 of the IPL 2026 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai this evening, with the game starting at 7:30 PM IST. It's a classic home fixture for MI on a pitch that usually offers plenty for the batters, with short boundaries and true bounce making for high-scoring entertainment.

Punjab Kings have been the story of the season so far. They sit third on the points table with three wins and one no-result from four matches, remaining the only unbeaten side in the competition. Their batting has real depth and momentum: captain Shreyas Iyer has been outstanding, piling up 137 runs at a strike rate close to 188, anchoring the middle order with calm authority and a couple of half-centuries. Openers like Priyansh Arya (explosive in the powerplay) and Prabhsimran Singh have given them flying starts, while Cooper Connolly, Shashank Singh, and Marcus Stoinis add balance and finishing punch. On the bowling front, Yuzvendra Chahal poses a particular headache for MI's middle order (he has a strong record against both Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya), and the pace unit featuring Arshdeep Singh, Marco Jansen, Xavier Bartlett, and Vijaykumar Vyshak has been effective despite the occasional loose over.

Mumbai Indians, by contrast, have had a tough time and lie ninth with just one win from four games. They've lost their last three matches and are badly in need of a turnaround at home. Skipper Hardik Pandya has been left to juggle a side short on rhythm. The big concern is the absence (or at best fitness doubt) of Rohit Sharma, who picked up a hamstring niggle in the previous game against RCB and is likely to miss out. That weakens their top order significantly. On the positive side, Suryakumar Yadav remains a game-changer when he clicks, Tilak Varma, Sherfane Rutherford, and Naman Dhir offer middle-order options, while Ryan Rickelton and Quinton de Kock could open. Bowling-wise, Jasprit Bumrah is still searching for wickets (a rare dry spell for him), with support from Trent Boult, Shardul Thakur, Mitchell Santner, and others – but the attack has leaked runs too often.

Head-to-head, the sides are dead even at 17 wins apiece, and it's 5-5 at Wankhede. Recent form, however, tilts things towards PBKS, who have looked far more settled and confident. The Wankhede surface should favour batters early on, though dew might come into play during the chase.

Overall, Punjab Kings carry the stronger momentum, better balance, and in-form leadership from Shreyas Iyer. Mumbai will rely on their home advantage and individual brilliance from the likes of Suryakumar or Bumrah to spark a fightback, but they face an uphill task.

I reckon Punjab Kings will probably edge this one and extend their unbeaten run, though on a belter of a pitch with so much firepower on both sides, it could easily become a run-fest decided in the final overs. Should be a cracking evening of cricket either way.
