Preview and prediction of winer 36th match TATA IPL26- Rajasthan Royals vs Sunrisers Hyderabad, at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur (25 April 2026) at 7:30 PM IST
Two of the Indian Premier League's most exciting sides meet in Jaipur on Saturday evening, with both Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad locked in a battle for the top four.
Rajasthan sit third in the standings with five wins from seven matches and ten points, while Hyderabad are a rung below with four wins and eight points. However, form suggests the visitors arrive with the greater sense of momentum — they have won three matches on the trot, one of which came at the expense of the hosts themselves.
That earlier clash, played in Hyderabad in Match 21, was a fairly one-sided affair. Sunrisers posted 216 for six before dismissing Rajasthan for just 159, winning by 57 runs. It is a result that will be fresh in both sides' minds when they take the field tonight.
The Teams
Rajasthan Royals have been solid enough this season, though their middle order has attracted criticism for a lack of consistency. Their top-order firepower, led by the dazzling Yashasvi Jaiswal alongside young talent Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, gives them a flying start more often than not. Jofra Archer and Nandre Burger provide genuine pace with the ball, and the spin combination of Ravi Bishnoi and Ravindra Jadeja is well-suited to the conditions in Jaipur. The concern, as it has been throughout the season, is what happens when the top order falls cheaply — captain Riyan Parag and Shimron Hetmyer will need to be at their best.
Probable XI: Jaiswal, Sooryavanshi, Parag (c), Hetmyer, Ferreira, Jadeja, Archer, Bishnoi, Burger, Brijesh Sharma, Sandeep Sharma.
Sunrisers Hyderabad arrive in fine fettle. Abhishek Sharma has been in breathtaking form this season, and the combination of Travis Head, Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen makes their batting line-up one of the most feared in the competition. Their bowling, too, has improved significantly, with Pat Cummins expected to return and reclaim the captaincy. His presence adds both experience at the top of the attack and crucial leadership in the field. Exciting newcomers Sakib Hussain and Praful Hinge tormented Rajasthan in the earlier meeting and could be asked to do so again.
Probable XI: Head, Abhishek Sharma, Kishan (wk), Klaasen, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Cummins (c), Harsh Dubey, Sakib Hussain, Praful Hinge, Eshan Malinga and one other.
Pitch and Conditions
Sawai Mansingh Stadium offers a fairly balanced surface that tends to reward patience and skill over brute force. The square boundaries are large, making big hitting more difficult than at some other venues, and the pitch carries enough grip to assist spinners. Average first-innings scores sit around the 160–165 mark, with anything above 175 considered competitive.
Dew is likely to creep in as the evening progresses, which could assist the side batting second. The toss, therefore, may well prove decisive — both captains will be tempted to chase.
The weather is hot and dry, with no rain expected. A score in the 170–190 range looks par for the course.
Key Battles
The contest between Rajasthan's top order and Sunrisers' opening bowlers — particularly if Cummins is sharp with the new ball — sets the tone. Going the other way, Bishnoi and Jadeja will be tasked with slowing the fluent Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head in the middle overs, while Archer's pace gives Rajasthan a genuine weapon at any stage of the innings.
Verdict
Rajasthan have home advantage, a settled squad and a record at this ground that will give them confidence. Yet it is hard to look past Sunrisers, who carry the better form, a superior head-to-head record (13 wins to Rajasthan's nine in 22 meetings) and the psychological edge of their heavy win against this same side just weeks ago.
If their top order fires and Cummins makes an immediate impact on his return, Sunrisers have the tools to win this comfortably. Rajasthan, though, are dangerous at home and a disciplined bowling performance in the first ten overs could change the complexion of the match entirely.
Prediction: Sunrisers Hyderabad to win — though expect this one to go deep into the final overs before it is decided.
