Tudor Out, De Zerbi In? Spurs Sack Another Manager as Relegation Battle Turns Desperate

Igor Tudor is gone. Seven games, zero wins, and a club sliding towards the Championship — Tottenham have cut their losses and parted ways with the Croatian by mutual consent in one of the most calamitous managerial spells in the club's modern history.

The numbers tell a grim story. Five defeats and two draws. Fourteen goals conceded, three scored. The defensive solidity Tudor was supposedly brought in to provide never arrived. Instead, the team looked tactically all over the place, and reports from the training ground suggested his relationship with senior players had broken down completely. Daniel Levy had seen enough.

Spurs now sit just two points above the relegation zone. For a club that was in Champions League finals not so long ago and owns one of the finest stadiums in world football, the prospect of dropping into the Championship is almost unthinkable. Survival isn't just the priority right now — it's the only priority.

To get them out of this mess, Tottenham have identified Roberto De Zerbi as their man. The Italian is well known to Premier League fans from his time at Brighton, where he built a side that played brave, high-tempo, possession-based football. He's currently without a club, which suits Spurs perfectly — they want someone in the dugout as quickly as possible, ideally before the next midweek fixtures.

Ryan Mason is expected to take charge in the short term while negotiations progress, but the message from the board is clear enough: Tudor was a mistake, and one they cannot afford to dwell on.

Whether De Zerbi can provide the spark Spurs desperately need remains to be seen. But with the bottom three looming and the season slipping away, a new face in the dugout — and the bounce that sometimes comes with it — may be the only thing standing between Tottenham and the unthinkable.
